Was Ed Sheeran’s Manager in the Epstein Files? What the Casey Wasserman Records Actually Show

The viral claim is misleading in one important respect: Casey Wasserman was not Ed Sheeran’s manager. Sheeran’s longtime manager is Stuart Camp. Wasserman was the founder and chief executive of the entertainment company whose music agency acquired Sheeran’s North American live-music representation in 2021.

But the second part of the story is real. Casey Wasserman does appear in Jeffrey Epstein-related records. Government records place Wasserman and his then-wife on multiple flight legs during a 2002 humanitarian trip aboard Epstein’s plane; Epstein’s contact book lists “Wasserman, Casey & Laura”; a FedEx record shows a package sent to Casey Wasserman with Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein identified in the sender information; and records released in 2026 include sexually suggestive emails between Wasserman and Maxwell from 2003.

What the records do not establish is equally important. Nothing reviewed for this article establishes that Ed Sheeran personally had a substantive relationship with Epstein or Maxwell. Nothing reviewed establishes that Wasserman participated in Epstein’s sexual abuse or trafficking. And the documented Wasserman-Maxwell correspondence predates Wasserman’s company’s acquisition of Sheeran’s North American agency representation by roughly 18 years.

That chronology substantially changes what the phrase “Ed Sheeran’s manager was in the Epstein files” implies.

Casey Wasserman Was Not Ed Sheeran’s Manager

This distinction is not semantic.

The Ed Sheeran Foundation’s current governance information identifies Stuart Camp as the founder of Grumpy Old Management and says Camp joined forces with Sheeran in 2010. The foundation also identifies another executive as business manager for “Ed Sheeran and his Manager Stuart Camp.” Music-industry reporting continues to describe Camp as Sheeran’s longtime manager in 2026.

A manager generally works closely on the artist’s broader career. A booking or touring agent handles areas such as live-performance representation, negotiations and touring opportunities.

Sheeran’s connection to Wasserman came through the second category.

In April 2021, Wasserman completed its acquisition of Paradigm Talent Agency’s North American music-representation business. Pollstar’s contemporary report on the 2021 acquisition specifically listed Ed Sheeran among the artists moving into the newly created Wasserman Music roster. Casey Wasserman headed the parent company, while veteran music agents including Marty Diamond ran the music operation.

Diamond’s connection to Sheeran actually predates Wasserman. In 2019, while at Paradigm, he was already described as booking Sheeran in North America and having Sheeran among his personal clients.

That matters because it shows how Sheeran arrived under the Wasserman corporate umbrella: Wasserman bought the agency operation that already represented him.

The company relationship began in 2021.

The Wasserman records at issue here date principally from 2002 and 2003.

There is therefore no basis to imply that Sheeran was part of, present for or connected to those events merely because an agency representing him almost two decades later was owned by Casey Wasserman.

What the Epstein-Related Records Actually Show About Casey Wasserman

There is more here than merely a name appearing once in a giant document dump. Several distinct categories of records establish a documented association involving Wasserman, Epstein and particularly Ghislaine Maxwell.

But each record proves something different, and none should be stretched beyond what it actually shows.

Epstein’s Contact Book Lists Casey and Laura Wasserman

The Justice Department-released, redacted version of Epstein’s contact book contains an entry reading “Wasserman, Casey & Laura.” The entry appears on page 61 of the DOJ-released redacted Epstein contact book.

That establishes that their contact information was recorded in the book.

It does not, by itself, establish the nature, closeness or purpose of a relationship. Epstein’s contact books contained large numbers of people from business, politics, entertainment and society. Inclusion is evidence that contact information was retained, not evidence that the person participated in Epstein’s crimes.

In Wasserman’s case, however, the contact-book entry is not the only record.

Wasserman Flew on Epstein’s Plane During a 2002 Africa Trip

Court-filed flight records show Casey Wasserman and his then-wife Laura aboard Epstein’s Boeing 727 during a September 2002 trip through Africa.

The DOJ-hosted flight records released in the Giuffre v. Maxwell litigation show Casey and Laura Wasserman on multiple legs alongside Epstein, Maxwell, former President Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, Chris Tucker and other members of the delegation. For example, the records list the Wassermans on a September 25 flight from Kigali, Rwanda, to Maputo, Mozambique, and subsequent legs through South Africa, Ghana and Paris.

The trip itself was not secret. Contemporary accounts described a mission centered on HIV/AIDS and economic-development issues in Africa, and later reporting connected Wasserman’s participation to Clinton Foundation-related activity.

This also explains a potentially misleading statistic.

A person can appear many times in a flight database without having taken that many independent “trips with Epstein.” Each city-to-city segment may be counted separately. Wasserman has characterized his travel aboard Epstein’s aircraft as a single humanitarian trip in 2002. The underlying records show multiple flight legs within that trip.

Both statements can therefore be true.

FedEx Records Show a Package Sent to Casey Wasserman

Another primary record is more obscure.

A FedEx invoice entered into evidence in the Maxwell case records a package picked up on October 7, 2002 and delivered the next morning to Casey Wasserman. The sender block identifies Ghislaine Maxwell and lists Jeffrey E. Epstein beneath her.

The shipment was also discussed during Maxwell’s federal trial. In the Day 9 Maxwell trial transcript hosted by the Justice Department, testimony confirms that the recipient was Casey Wasserman, the listed sender was Maxwell and Epstein’s Madison Avenue information appeared beneath it.

The Guardian’s later review of the released records identified two FedEx packages shortly after the Africa trip, one addressed to Casey Wasserman at his business and another to his then-wife.

The shipping records establish that packages were sent. They do not, from the records reviewed here, establish what was inside them.

The 2003 Emails With Ghislaine Maxwell Are More Substantive

The records that attracted the most attention in 2026 are different.

The January 2026 DOJ release included personal emails exchanged by Casey Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell in March and April 2003. The exchanges were not merely logistical or professional. They were overtly flirtatious and sexually suggestive.

According to Associated Press reporting on the newly released correspondence, the messages included discussion of leather clothing, massages and seeing one another with little clothing. In one exchange Wasserman wrote that he thought of Maxwell frequently; in another he asked about arranging a massage during an upcoming New York trip.

The correspondence establishes considerably more familiarity between Wasserman and Maxwell than a lone contact-book entry would.

It still has limits.

The messages show flirtation and apparent interest in meeting. They do not, by themselves, establish that a sexual relationship occurred. Nor do they establish that Wasserman knew about or participated in Maxwell’s criminal conduct.

After the emails became public, Wasserman said he deeply regretted the correspondence and said it occurred long before Maxwell’s crimes came to light. He also said he never had a personal or business relationship with Epstein and described the 2002 Africa trip as his only association with him. Those are Wasserman’s statements; the released records independently establish the flight, contact-book entry, shipping records and Maxwell correspondence.

The Chronology Is the Most Important Part of the Ed Sheeran Connection

Putting the records in chronological order makes the relationship much clearer.

The gap between the 2003 correspondence and the 2021 agency acquisition is roughly 18 years.

That does not make the Wasserman records unimportant. It does make it misleading to collapse the timeline into “Ed Sheeran’s manager was involved with Epstein,” as though the Wasserman-Maxwell relationship occurred while Wasserman was representing Sheeran.

It did not.

What Does the “109 Documents” Claim About Casey Wasserman Mean?

One number now spreading online deserves special caution.

A third-party Epstein-document database called Who Knew Jeff? currently displays 109 documents and 16 flight records for Casey Wasserman. Its Casey Wasserman index page explicitly warns that inclusion in the database does not imply guilt or wrongdoing.

But “109 documents” should not be translated into “109 contacts with Epstein,” “109 meetings,” or even necessarily 109 unique substantive records.

The problem is visible on the index itself. Its related-document section contains repeated listings of what appears to be the same April 7, 2003 Wasserman email. Its flight count similarly separates individual flight legs during the Africa itinerary.

Document productions can also contain duplicate copies, attachments, email chains, exhibits, previously published material and records reproduced in more than one litigation or data set.

The Justice Department itself warns on the official Epstein Library that technical limitations and document formats can make electronic searches incomplete or unreliable. The January 2026 production also included millions of pages collected from multiple investigations and acknowledged duplicate material among the collected records.

The defensible statement is therefore:

A third-party database currently indexes Wasserman across 109 documents and 16 flight entries. That is an indexing statistic, not evidence of 109 separate interactions with Jeffrey Epstein.

The more meaningful question is what distinct events can actually be reconstructed from the underlying evidence.

So far, the strongest categories are the 2002 Africa travel, the contact-book entry, post-trip FedEx records and the 2003 Maxwell correspondence.

Was Ed Sheeran Himself in the Epstein Files?

This question illustrates one of the biggest problems with Epstein-file searches.

We found no substantive record in the material and credible reporting reviewed for this article establishing that Ed Sheeran was an Epstein contact, flew on Epstein’s aircraft, corresponded with Epstein or Maxwell, or participated in the documented Wasserman-Maxwell relationship.

But a literal search can still return his name.

For example, a 2017 court exhibit now hosted in the DOJ archive contains a captured news webpage whose unrelated sidebar includes entertainment headlines about Ed Sheeran. His name therefore exists in the text of an “Epstein file” even though the Sheeran headlines have nothing to do with Epstein.

That is an unusually clean demonstration of why statements such as “X is named in the Epstein files” can be nearly meaningless without inspecting the actual document.

A name may appear because the person was:

a passenger, correspondent or contact; mentioned by someone else; discussed in reporting; included in an address book; part of an email attachment; or simply visible in unrelated webpage material captured as an exhibit.

Those circumstances are not evidentially equivalent.

The DOJ further cautions that its search tool may fail to identify some material because portions of the archive are handwritten or otherwise difficult to search electronically. For that reason, the most precise conclusion is not that Sheeran’s name can never be found anywhere in the millions of released pages. It is that our review found no substantive Epstein connection involving Sheeran himself.

What Do the Records Not Establish About Casey Wasserman?

The evidence supports scrutiny of Wasserman’s relationship with Maxwell. It does not support every conclusion circulating around it.

The 2003 messages demonstrate direct, familiar and sexually suggestive communication with Maxwell. The flight records establish travel with Epstein and Maxwell. The contact book and shipping records add additional documentary links.

But the Guardian’s review of the released Wasserman material reported that it found no direct correspondence from Wasserman to Epstein and no communications between Wasserman and Maxwell after 2003. It characterized the other identified Wasserman-Epstein records as the Africa flights and the two FedEx packages sent shortly afterward.

Nothing in those records, or in the reporting reviewed for this article, establishes that Wasserman participated in Epstein’s sexual abuse or trafficking. Wasserman has not been charged with an Epstein-related crime.

That is not the same as saying the records are insignificant. The Maxwell emails materially deepen the documented relationship beyond an incidental appearance in a phone book or passenger manifest.

The evidence supports saying Wasserman had a documented personal correspondence with Maxwell and traveled with both Maxwell and Epstein.

It does not support converting that association into an unproven criminal allegation.

Is Ed Sheeran Still Represented by the Agency Casey Wasserman Founded?

Yes, current evidence indicates that Sheeran continues to have touring representation through the successor agency—but the company and its relationship to Casey Wasserman have changed substantially.

After the 2026 disclosures generated client departures and internal pressure, Wasserman announced that he had begun selling the company and said Mike Watts would assume day-to-day control. The music operation subsequently rebranded from Wasserman Music to THE·TEAM in March. Pollstar’s report on the THE·TEAM rebrand continued to list Ed Sheeran among the operation’s major music clients.

More recent evidence is even more specific. A current USC Annenberg biography for Marty Diamond identifies him as an EVP and managing executive at THE·TEAM and explicitly says he represents Ed Sheeran and Coldplay.

Meanwhile, the Ed Sheeran Foundation continues to identify Stuart Camp as the artist’s manager.

And on July 28, 2026, Providence Equity announced an additional investment in THE·TEAM intended to fund the acquisition of Casey Wasserman’s remaining ownership interest. Providence said the transaction was expected to close in the second half of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions, with Watts becoming CEO upon completion.

As of this article’s September 2026 research date, that announced transaction should not be described as completed unless and until the companies confirm closing.

So the accurate formulation is:

Ed Sheeran continues to be represented by personnel at THE·TEAM, the successor to the music agency formerly carrying Casey Wasserman’s name. That does not make Casey Wasserman Ed Sheeran’s manager, nor does it establish that Wasserman personally handles Sheeran’s career.

Why the Distinction Matters

The phrase “in the Epstein files” has become an unusually poor shortcut for describing evidence.

Millions of pages from court cases, investigations, emails, address books, flight records, photographs, media clippings and other materials now sit under the same broad label. The Justice Department says its Epstein Library remained subject to updates as of September 11, 2026.

A person appearing in a scraped news headline and a person exchanging private emails with Maxwell can both technically be “named in the files.”

Those facts obviously do not mean the same thing.

Casey Wasserman’s documentary footprint is substantive enough that it should not be reduced to a meaningless name hit. There are direct records worth examining: travel, a contact-book entry, shipping records and personal correspondence with Maxwell.

But attaching Ed Sheeran to those records requires another factual step: identifying how Wasserman was connected to Sheeran.

That relationship came through an agency acquisition in 2021, not through the 2002-03 events recorded in the Epstein material.

Was Casey Wasserman Ed Sheeran’s Manager?

No.

Stuart Camp is Ed Sheeran’s longtime manager. Casey Wasserman ran the larger entertainment company whose music division acquired Sheeran’s North American agency representation in 2021. Marty Diamond, who had represented Sheeran before the acquisition, continued in that role and now works at THE·TEAM.

Did Casey Wasserman fly on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane?

Yes.

Government-hosted flight records place Casey and Laura Wasserman aboard Epstein’s Boeing 727 on multiple legs of a September 2002 humanitarian trip through Africa. Describing the entries as multiple flight legs is more precise than suggesting they represent numerous independent trips with Epstein.

Did Casey Wasserman communicate with Ghislaine Maxwell?

Yes.

Records released in 2026 contain personal emails between Wasserman and Maxwell in March and April 2003. The exchanges were flirtatious and sexually suggestive. Wasserman subsequently said he regretted the correspondence.

Was Casey Wasserman in Epstein’s contact book?

Yes.

The DOJ-released redacted contact book includes an entry for “Wasserman, Casey & Laura.” A contact-book entry demonstrates that information was retained for them; it does not itself establish wrongdoing.

Does Casey Wasserman appear in 109 Epstein documents?

A third-party indexing website currently reports 109 documents associated with Wasserman and 16 flight entries. That is not a DOJ determination that Wasserman had 109 contacts with Epstein. Repeated records and individual flight segments can inflate raw document or entry counts.

Was Ed Sheeran himself connected to Jeffrey Epstein?

No substantive evidence of such a connection was found in the records and credible reporting reviewed for this article.

A DOJ-hosted court exhibit can produce an “Ed Sheeran” search hit because an unrelated entertainment headline about him appeared in the sidebar of a captured webpage. That example demonstrates why a raw name match should never be treated as evidence of an Epstein relationship without examining the underlying document.

Bottom Line

The claim that “Ed Sheeran’s manager was in the Epstein files” takes two real facts and joins them inaccurately.

Casey Wasserman is genuinely documented in Epstein-related records. He traveled aboard Epstein’s aircraft during a 2002 humanitarian trip, appears with his then-wife in Epstein’s contact book, received a FedEx shipment reflected in Maxwell trial evidence, and exchanged flirtatious and sexually suggestive emails with Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003.

But Wasserman was not Ed Sheeran’s manager.

Sheeran’s longtime manager is Stuart Camp. His touring representation came under the Wasserman corporate umbrella after Wasserman acquired Paradigm’s North American music business in 2021—roughly 18 years after the Maxwell correspondence. Marty Diamond, who represented Sheeran before that transaction, remains associated with Sheeran through the successor company, THE·TEAM.

And after reviewing the available records and credible reporting, we found no substantive evidence connecting Ed Sheeran personally to Jeffrey Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell.

That does not erase the documented Wasserman-Maxwell relationship.

It puts it in the correct place on the timeline.
