When I first began interviewing individuals for various positions, I would always cringe when I saw candidates list hobbies on their resume. I would often think “you are applying for a financial analysis position, why did you include your love of fly fishing on your resume”?
Over time, I realized there is a delicate balance between blatantly listing one’s hobbies on a resume, versus balancing one’s holistic character to supplement their professional experience.
While I still abstain from listing such hobbies on my one-page paper resume, one of the reasons I was inspired to make this digital full scope resume was to allow prospective clients, employers, and colleagues a better chance to see beyond my work experience and education.
